HBO Max And Discovery Plus Will Merge
AT&T’s WarnerMedia and Discovery merger is about to become official. Once that happens Discovery will become Warner Bros. Discovery.
Instead of offering HBO Max and Discovery + as a bundle, WarnerMedia plans to merge Discovery + and HBO Max. Discovery's CFO Gunnar Wiedenfels believes merging the apps instead of offering a bundle enhances the customer's experience.
"One of the most important items here is that we believe in a combined product as opposed to a bundle. We believe that the breadth and depth of this content offering is going to be a phenomenal consumer value proposition,"- Gunnar Wiedenfels, Discovery CFO
It has not been revealed how much the merged streaming service will cost, but they plan to offer ad-free and ad-lite options.
