Sony Acquires Crunchy Roll For $1.18 Billion
AT&T has decided to sell its anime streaming platform Crunchyroll to Sony for $1.18 billion.
Sony plans to add to Crunchyroll's 3 million subscribers by extending globally. AT&T's motivation to sell Crunchyroll was to get some cash to pay down its debt. Also, their focus right now is building HBO Max.
"We have a deep understanding of this global art form and are well-positioned to deliver outstanding content to audiences around the world," Tony Vinciquerra, chairman of Sony
Sony also plans to promote its music within the Crunchyroll platform.
