Javicia Leslie Will Play Batwoman

The CW network announced that Javicia Leslie is slated to play Batwoman in the TV series. 

 Ruby Rose departed from the series after the first season aired. Javicia Leslie will play the first Black actress to play Batwoman in a live-action TV or film.

"I am extremely proud to be the first Black actress to play the iconic role of Batwoman on television, and as a bisexual woman, I am honored to join this groundbreaking show which has been such a trailblazer for the LGBTQ+ community" - Javicia Leslie

The showrunner Caroline Dries made the executive decision to create a different character instead of replacing Ruby Rose for season 2 of the series.
